                                               Yr 5 Plymouth 2010

“The days fly past because we have so much fun,  even with really hard work”

Girls join our Junior School at four years of age. This is a smooth and carefully planned transition from Nursery.

Girls from Reception to Year 3 are accommodated in our new, outstanding and stylish ‘S’ shaped building - named Ty Hapus (Happy House) by the girls. This building includes eight spacious classrooms and an art room. The school has added a dedicated library, music room and ICT Suite.

The older girls, aged 8 to 11 years, are based in Hazelwood, our original Junior School building.

The Junior School has a unique and distinctive family atmosphere where the girls instantly feel at ease and secure within this conducive learning environment. It is an exciting and vibrant place to be and the girls readily and enthusiastically engage in a wealth of stimulating and interesting activities. Howell’s Junior School is a place where learning is fun!

 Around the campfire

We want every girl to be a confident, happy child who develops a thirst and zest for learning. Whilst we help them to develop life skills, we promote an environment that retains the unique essence of childhood.

Our Partnership with Parents

We value our close working relationships with parents and take every opportunity to share and discuss progress and welfare. Parents are kept fully informed by staff about their daughter’s learning in a variety of ways including a Meet the Teacher evening at the beginning of the year to appraise parents of the plans for the year, termly curriculum letters and parent consultation evenings. An annual curriculum evening for parents offers insight into the school's progressive teaching styles and an opportunity to experience for themselves the fun learning experience at Howell's Junior School.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities take place both during lunchtimes and after school. These are an important part of our school day and offer rich opportunities for girls to develop new interests. These include:

        Music clubs
        Sports activities
        Speech & Drama
        Olympic Club (Gymnastics)
        Ballet

Spanish
German
Latin
French
Mandarin
