The main aim of the Parents’ Association is to encourage co-operation and good relations between parents, staff and others associated with the school. We are fortunate to be able to draw upon the wide range of experience and talents of our parents.
The Management Committee and the two Sub-Committees, Social & Fundraising and Careers, meet once each term. All parents are welcome to attend the Sub-Committee meetings. All expenditure is agreed by the Management Committee, which consists of the Principal, Deputy Principal, four elected officers of the Association and two members of staff.
During the year, the Association holds a number of social events which are open to all parents. We raise funds to provide additional facilities for the school. If any parents would like to be involved in fundraising events or as a Form Representative to act as a link between the Association and school, please do not hesitate to contact me at chair.hslpa@hotmail.com
If you have any questions about the Association, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at

Night at the Museum Ball 2009
The aptly titled "NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM BALL" held on 5th December 2009 was a resounding success.
Held at the National Museum of Wales, the beautifully attired parents and friends of Howell's School sipped champagne amidst the wonders of the Origins Gallery whilst being serenaded by JAZZ NEWS.
Cunningly disguised among the exhibits were Howell's College students dressed as characters from the popular film " Night At the Museum" .
The Ball hosted a fantastic raffle with over 100 prizes and a silent auction, with lots including flights to Dubai, your own private ski instructor, a family holiday at Bluestone, teeth whitening or dinner at the Ritz London - all of which were snapped up at bargain prices.
The Museum Great Hall echoed to laughter and the music from the popular disco THE BEAT GOES ON had everyone up and dancing until after midnight, when guests were invited to continue their evening across at the private members club THE PARK HOUSE.
The Parents Association Ball Committee wishes to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and businesses who took advertising in the programme , gave raffle or auction prizes and helped with the Ball and to the 130 guests and 6th Formers who attended.
Special thanks also to McLay Printers, The National Museum of Wales, Jazz News and The Beat Goes On disco, WM Magazine and Portia Morgan Photography for their support of our charity.
We are very excited to have raised £10,000 due to all of your generosity and will be donating part of the profit to Velindre Cancer Hospital Breast Cancer Stepping Stones Appeal.
Copies of the programme with photos of last years Ball and school events of 2009 are available in the Senior and Junior School Receptions.

Howell’s Christmas Fayre 2009

The Parents’ Association Christmas Fayre was an extremely successful event raising approximately £1,000 for the School. Thirty five local businesses had stalls at the Fayre, providing an excellent selection of Christmas gifts. While the adults took a break from shopping at the ever popular tea, coffee and cake stall, the children were able to have lots of fun of their own. There were many activities to entertain them, from nail and face painting to Christmas decoration crafts, before they made their visit to Santa’s magical grotto. We also had the pleasure this year of being entertained by members of the School’s Jazz Band who played festive music for the duration of the Fayre. The Christmas raffle which was drawn at the Fayre raised around a further £1,000.
Many thanks to all parents and teachers who supported this event and to those who donated raffle prizes and cakes. A special thanks also to Sarah Llewellyn and Annabel Loosemore for organising and coordinating the Fayre.
