Scholarships & Bursaries

The GDST Bursary Fund provides financial assistance to enable suitably qualified students, whose parents could not otherwise afford the fees, to enter the Senior School and College.

We are pleased to announce that, since 2011, bursaries of 100% (i.e. covering the full tuition fee) have been available. For further information please contact Chrissie Davis, Chrissie.Hall-Davis@how.gdst.net who will explain the next steps of this process. Other Trusts are also available to assist with fees in certain circumstances; please contact the school for further details.

Bursaries apply to the Senior School and College but not to the Junior School.

Being awarded a Howell's bursary enabled me to achieve my academic goals in a stimulating and active environment, where we were always encouraged to follow our dreams. As a result of my studying at Howells, I attended a top University, obtained a PhD in astrophysics and was able to fulfil my ambition of becoming an astrophysicist. I am truly grateful for the opportunities that Howell's gave me, along with the friendships that I acquired there.

Quotes from students:

An enormous thank you to HSBC for giving me the life changing opportunity to attend the Sixth Form College at Howell's. Howell's is a great place to study because it is a hard working environment and I get fantastic support and help from the teachers.
I loved the Year 12 College Bonding Day in the Bay -  I actually made new friends.  I learnt to ride a bike on the day and now I am learning to swim! I am being pushed academically to do my best and to learn to get the best out of myself in everything I do.

Sajida Q, Year 12

I love studying at Howell's because it has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A lot of effort is made to make students bond and become friends. A lot of support sessions are available.  There are lots of sporting and extra-curricular activities on offer, lots more than at my last school. There is a Howell's method and way of doing things in every single subject. The teaching is great and you get more one to one time and questions are answered straight away. I am so grateful to HSBC for giving me the chance to study at such a great school!

Useful Documents:

Howell's School provides tremendous "value-added" in terms of public examination results, which are consistently higher than predicted in independent assessments.
