On the evening of Wednesday 15th November, we rolled out the red carpet in celebration of the spectacular restoration of the Great Hall with an evening for major donors and VIP guests. Following the drinks reception, every one of the beautiful Shakespearean J M Staniforth paintings was brought to life by our amazing drama students before guests took their seats for dinner. Between courses, fascinating interviews took place with Richard Read, Howell’s Director of Finance and Operations; Michael Davies, the architect who managed the project; and Rachel Howell, who led the restoration of the murals. Our Head of English, Mrs Richards, who also attended Howell’s as a student, charmed guests with her memories of the Great Hall as both a student and more latterly as a teacher. It was a very special evening, enjoyed by all. Many thanks to everyone who has made this project possible.
