A Trip To The Fire Station

Year 2 visited Blue Watch at Ely Fire Station on the morning of Thursday 7th September as part of their stunning start to their topic on 'Fire and Ice'.
The girls were very excited about a trip on the second day of school and found out a great deal from their visit to the fire station. During the trip, they were shown around the fire station and the firefighters told them about the various aspects of their jobs. The girls also had the opportunity to look around the fire engine, and they all got to work the fire hose and spray the doors in the tower.
Nancy wore the watch manager's white helmet and decided she quite liked being in charge, as long as someone cleaned her shoes on her request!
The girls learned lots of interesting information about the job of a fireman which will help them when they come to write a job and personal specification of a firefighter next week!

Many thanks to Blue Watch, Ely, for once again warmly inviting us into the station and for answering all our many questions.
