Amnesty Against Arms Sales

The College Amnesty Group collected over 200 signatures on March 31st from Senior School and College students and staff for their petition against the sale of arms by the UK to Saudi Arabia, which is currently using them against civilians in Yemen. Mrs Helen Davies presented the petition to the Labour Member of Parliament for Cardiff West at his constituency office in Canton. Kevin Brennan MP accepted the petition and promised to forward it with a letter on behalf of the group to the relevant government departments. He will send a copy of the letter and the response to the Amnesty Group in due course. Mr Brennan is no stranger to Howell's; keen to promote political awareness among young people, he was one of a panel of politicians from all the major parties who came to answer students' questions before our school election in 2015.
