Year 13 historians enjoyed a very interesting lunchtime lecture by Dr Norman La Porte from the University of South Wales about Hitler, the War and the Holocaust on Thursday 30th March. Dr La Porte explored the historical debates about the origin and responsibility for the horrific events of World War Two, which saw the systematic and mechanised killing of about 6 million Jews, gypsies, Jehovah's Witnesses and others who did not fit into the Nazis' so-called 'Master Race'. It was a very interesting and informative exposition of the still hotly debated topic, relevant not only to the A level History course, but also to the feature film 'Denial', starring Timothy Spall and Rachel Weiss, which is currently being screened at Chapter.
