In our Year 12 College meeting this week, Gopikaa A was presented with the prestigious UK Mathematics Trust Kangaroo Award. In addition, four of our students, Matthew S, Chloe A, Catrin B and Gopikaa A were congratulated on being accepted to participate in the 5Cs (Chernobyl Children Cancer Care Cardiff) to work this July as volunteers at the Belarusian Children’s Hospice. We wish them the very best of luck in this endeavour.
We then welcomed Elizabeth Maitland, a 3rd year History student from Cardiff University and Erasmus Ambassador, who gave a fascinating presentation on opportunities for study abroad during university or as part of a traineeship scheme. Opportunities can go from a couple of months to a year in length and are well funded. There is no requirement to be studying a language, placements are available in 29 participating countries and most subject disciplines can be catered for. Elizabeth studied History in France and although French is not part of her degree, is now fluent in French and her year abroad was credited as part of her 3 year degree programme.
