On Tuesday 12th September, we launched the 2017-18 Howell’s Lecture Programme with our first event - a debating showcase. Mrs Davies explained the format of a parliamentary debate before our team of debaters from Years 10 and 13 voiced their opinions on the motion: This house believes that ‘the feminist movement has done more harm than good’. After a very lively and though-provoking debate, the opposition were deemed to have presented the strongest case on this occasion. Many thanks to all those students who attended and those who participated: Sian K, Dan K, Imogen C, Libby W, Rosie T, Rob L, Molly R and Hema N.
The Howell’s Lecture programme is open to all students in Years 11- 13 and is designed to deepen students’ knowledge beyond the curriculum. Our next event is on the 10th of October at 3.45pm in the Great Hall, where we will be joined by Fiona Diffey from Cardiff Met who will be leading a session on Physical Literacy and Holistic Health.
