Eight Howell's teams took part in the Schools Debating Competition run by Swansea University Debating Society on Saturday 11th November. Year 10 students Isabel H, Dani K, Angona S and Ayesha A, Year 12 students Liam B, Chinua E, Dagmawi Y, Restam E-A, Rachel S, Ffion M, Hanya E and Tom K-W, and Year 13 students Ishrat C, Teeda E-H and Imogen C were joined by Gap Year student Nia M-R, who has been coaching the Debating Club. All the teams performed very well in the three debating rounds, and we were delighted that Restam and Dag and the Swing Team, Imogen and Nia, were amongst the highest scoring teams overall. Restam and Dag went on to participate in the Open Final. We were also extremely pleased to hear that Rachel and Ffion broke in first place for the Novice Final (for students who have been competing for less than a year) and actually went on to win! This was a particularly impressive achievement since this was only the second British Parliamentary style competition in which the Year 12 students had competed. An impressive performance from all the Howell's competitors!
