That's The Way To Do It!

Year 2's topic this term has been ‘Ar Lan y Môr’, and through this they have learnt about the Victorian seaside. On Monday 3rd July, Professor Bungle visited us, and treated the girls to a special Punch and Judy show. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the performance and they were shown how many of the puppets are made and also given interesting insights into the history of Punch and Judy.
The girls enjoyed chatting about the show:

Elizabeth: “Punch and Judy has been going on for over 500 years, before the Victorian times, but when the Victorians started to visit the seaside the shows were taken to the beach to make them laugh.”
Charlotte: “It was really funny when I was the ‘Bottler’ and had to shout “Roll up, roll up, get ready for the Punch and Judy show” in a very loud voice!”
Erin: “It was funny when Punch pretended that he was dead and fell on top of the doctor.”
Charlotte: “The ghost was really spooky because his head went up and down.”
Malak: “I liked the bit when the Clown hit Punch on the head with a spoon after saying '1, 2, 3, whack!'”
Issy: “I liked it when Punch put the baby in the sausage machine!”
Xinrong: “My favourite part was when the Clown asked where the Baby was and Punch said he had lost him.”
Illeana: “I liked it when the baby turned into sausages and then they were eaten by the Crocodile!”
Eloise: “I liked it when the Crocodile nearly ate Punch but Punch thought the Crocodile was a pussycat”

The girls asked some very interesting questions to Professor Bungle and fully interacted with the show. They have learnt that when you operate puppets you have to keep them moving all the time. Following on from the show the girls have written their own Punch and Judy scripts and have made card puppets. They will be performing their shows for their friends with many entertaining voices!
