Hosted by Inglefield House, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls Junior Department on 29th January, this important chess event saw a HIGH number of entries from around the country. Among them were seven girls from Howell’s, playing a full day of chess in six age categories – and six of them won a trophy!
In the U8 section Isabella C improved on her 4th place of 2016 to be crowned champion.
In the U9 section Lara O was 2nd and Anika K was 3rd, with Suhaani P in 5th place.
At U12 Nayana K was 2nd and Bindu D was 3rd.
The Champion of the U14s was Susanna F who achieved a perfect score of 5/5, as she did last year in the U12 section.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. Six trophies were won in total. Isabella & Susanna were the bookends for the day – winning the titles in the youngest & oldest age categories.
