What Price Freedom Of Speech?

Amnesty International campaigns on behalf of those people around the world who are denied their basic human rights, such as freedom of speech and freedom from arbitrary arrest and torture. To raise awareness and funds to assist these campaigns, five members of the College Amnesty Group, several of whom are pictured here, were silent for a whole College day - quite a challenge for many Howell's students! Gopikaa A, Riya K, and Amy B (Year 12) together with Nia M-R and Udita D (Year 13) managed to stay silent throughout the College day and have so far collected £224.23p from their fellow College students and members of staff. There is still some sponsorship money to be collected, so the students will be able to send a very useful sum to Amnesty International. Congratulations to the 'Silent Five' and thank you to all those who supported them.
