On Thursday 12th June we celebrated the forthcoming 75th birthday of a very special lady in the Howell’s family, Miss Jean Ballinger, known to many students as "Mrs Purple". Staff, Hywelians, former staff, Governors and friends joined her for a vintage tea in the Senior School Dining Room at 3.00pm. Miss Ballinger worked at Howell’s for many years as a member of the administrative staff and she now volunteers as an assistant in the archives. She comes to all events at Howell’s, and we really value her support and friendship. She will actually be celebrating her birthday, on Tuesday 24th June, in Iceland while on a cruise, and we wish her a very happy day.
