On Friday 27th June the whole school, from Reception to College, congregated in the Senior School Sports Hall for the annual Founders’ Day Assembly which was followed by the Thomas Howell break. During Assembly, Mrs Davis updated everyone on the fundraising progress of Pitch In and interviewed Junior School girls who had raised over £260 for the fund by running a stall in the Parents’ Association’s Car Boot sale. Glen Fendley, Director of Development at the GDST, was sadly unable to attend but sent a lovely video message which was shown during the Assembly. The Head Boy, Joshua Frost, spoke about Thomas Howell and the founding of Howell’s School and a brief excerpt from the most recent instalment of our Oral History project was shown; the film showed Year 8 students interviewing Hywelians aged between 75 and 80 about their time at Howell’s. We were delighted that Muriel Jeremy, Vivien Liles, Mary Lister and Joyce Shields, who had taken part in the Oral History project, joined us for Assembly and the Thomas Howell break.
