Year 1 trip to Jamie Oliver's

On Tuesday 8th March, Year 1 were treated to a trip to Jamie Oliver’s restaurant as part of their ‘Food’ topic. First the manager talked the girls through the history of the restaurant chain and Jamie Oliver himself, and presented some unusual ingredients. The girls also debated whether a tomato was a fruit or a vegetable! Next they spent time discussing the cured meats, breads and watching the fresh penne pasta being made. The girls were allowed a tour of the kitchen to observe the chefs at work, which they all found fascinating. Finally it was lunchtime and the girls were served a delicious Italian lunch. Thank you very much to the staff at the restaurant and to the parent/grandparent helpers on the day.
