Our outgoing and incoming Interact Presidents – Jonny H. and Jess D. (Year13) and Jess C. and Caitlin D. (Year 12) – were invited to the breakfast meeting at Whitchurch Golf Club alongside Interactors from The Cathedral School and Whitchurch High School to talk about their fundraising successes this academic year. The Rotary President was very complimentary about the good work carried out by all the Interactors and pledged the support of the Rotarians in their upcoming endeavours.
An annual prize in memory of Rotarian Paul Spencer is awarded to a student from each of the three schools, recognising outstanding contributions to Rotary Interact. Abi C. (Year 13) was nominated by her peers for this award and was congratulated for her commitment to the role of Secretary and for all her hard work behind the scenes of every Rotary Interact event. Well done, Abi! Mrs Davies, who is stepping down as link member of staff, was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the Rotarians in acknowledgement of her unfailing support and commitment to HSL’s Rotary Interact group since its earliest days some nine committees ago.
Wednesday evening marked the Rotary Interact handover from the outgoing Year 13 committee to the newly formed Year 12 committee. The outgoing committee have raised over £4,200 this year for a wide range of charities including Gofal, Cancer Research UK, the 5Cs and Alalay. The chain of office was passed from the outgoing presidents to the new presidents at a celebratory meal at Pizza Express, which was well attended by members of both committees. Congratulations to all our Interactors on their hard work this year.
