Hywelian Summer Lunch 2016

On Saturday 25th June the school was filled with reminiscing and laughter at the annual Hywelian Summer Lunch. This year more than 90 Hywelians from a wide variety of year groups joined us and, the eldest being 92-year-old Dene Thomas (nee Roberts). Dene  was accompanied by two of her sisters, who also attended Howell’s and whose family owned the famous Evan Roberts department store, which stocked the school uniform.  It was also a pleasure to welcome more than twenty Hywelians who left school in 1966 and were celebrating their 50th anniversary of leaving. This group included Howell’s Chairman of Governors, Kay Powell.

Guests enjoyed drinks in the Stone Hall before lunch was served in the Dining Hall. At the end of lunch the Hywelian AGM took place during which Mrs Yilmaz, Director of Development and Communications, told them about all the exciting developments taking place at school.  During the day Mrs Janet Sully, Archivist and Assistant Marketing Manager, took tours for all those who wanted to look around the school.  Many thanks to Sue Rayner, Joyce Shields and the Hywelian committee who made the day such a success.
