There were screams of delight at Howell's this morning, where the GCSE results achieved were even higher than last year's.
The top performer, Gloria G. achieved 11 A*s. Gloria joined Howell's in Year 7, on a bursary funded by HSBC, and has blossomed into a confident and talented student. The HSBC bursary scheme funds Howell's students who would otherwise not be able to attend a fee-paying school. Gloria is looking forward to the start of next term, when she will be a student at Howell's College, studying Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and French at A-level.
An impressive 44% of all GCSE grades were A*, with a combined A*- A rate of 74%. Among the highest achievers, 23 girls obtained all A*-As, and 14 gained 9 A*s or more.
In Mathematics, 76% achieved A*-A and in both in English Literature and English Language 75% of grades were at A or A*.
Principal, Sally Davis, said: "I am delighted for our girls, who have all done so well in their GCSEs this year. They are looking forward to starting their A-level programmes at Howell's College, and we will enjoy watching them flourish and grow into mature, dedicated students in the next stage of their education."
