Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Expedition Update

During the summer holiday, 30 students from Year 12 completed their D of E expedition section of the award by walking 50 miles across the Brecon Beacons from Dan Yr Ogof caves in the west to Tal Y Bont in the East, and then back by a different route.

They carried all their equipment, clothes and food for the whole four days, and camped every night. Some days, the weather was so bad they could only see about 20 metres ahead.

Not only did they all achieve the award, but by and large - blisters, sore feet, aching legs and backs not withstanding - they had a great time. They all worked together as a team and learnt that they are much stronger that the sum of the individuals. They all accept that it was a fantastic experience, and something they will never forget. When life gets tough they can look back on this and say, "I DID IT!".
