Junior Hockey News

On Friday 14th October, the first hockey matches of the season for Year 3 and Year 4 also happened to be the first matches ever for many girls, with Year 3 in particular stepping out on to the astro-turf for the first time. Thirty girls in total from the two year groups competed against The Cathedral School on Friday 14th October in front of a mass of proud parents! Team #1 from Year 3 had a thrilling end-to-end encounter, but neither team managed to force the goal over the line. Lara O, Celeste R, Ffion B, Milly S, Alice W, Mina J and Francesca B all played very well and earned themselves an impressive 0-0 draw. Team #2 (Minnie H, Amira A, Poppy B-E, Tia D, Eloise H, Chloe S, Tatjana G, Safia S-T) enjoyed their first experience of competitive hockey, coming close to scoring on a few occasions and making some excellent tackles! They were on the losing end of 2-0 scoreline but showed a great determination throughout their match.

Year 4 were split into their classes for their two matches, with 4J going first. Despite playing some good hockey and finding a goal through Evie P, the girls were narrowly defeated. 4S played a good second half to come back from a goal down and draw 1-1 against their opponents. Bella C was the goal-scorer for them in what ended up being a frantic match! Well done to all girls who took part in the matches on Friday, there are many more to come that we can look forward to!
