As part of the 'hobbies' topic in German lessons, Year 8 students have been learning about the highly popular German sport of 'Handball'. Having seem some YouTube footage, the girls were very keen to give the sport a go, so on Tuesday 18th November Miss Brosnan taught a group of very enthusiastic and energetic students the basic rules and ran a mini-tournament at lunchtime. The game was very active and involved a lot of running by all players (except the goalies) as they have access to all parts of the court except for the shooting 'D'. Players can move several paces with the ball, dribble up to three times and shoot from anywhere outside the 'D'. The game was very close with both teams scoring four goals. The girls have now asked if this game can be part of the sport enrichment programme, so watch this space! Many thanks to Miss Brosnan for organising this special event and to Foreign Language Leaders Will B. and Lily B. from Year 12 for coming along to help.
