British Schools’ Artificial Ski Slope Championships 2016

Following their recent success at the Welsh Championships in Llangrannog in October, Howell’s Senior Girls and Senior Boys’ Ski Teams were invited to participate in the British Schools’ Artificial Ski Slope Championships 2016 in Gloucester on Sunday 20th November. This is a major slalom competition with almost 200 competitors from all areas of the UK. The students skied brilliantly, and although they were not placed, they skied excellently on what was a very daunting course. The course was certainly not for the faint-hearted, with some tricky gate combinations which had to be navigated accurately at speed, and indeed there were 13 disqualifications!
Congratulations go to Harry H (Year 13) who came 13th overall and was the 5th fastest Welsh racer. Unfortunately the other members of the boys’ team were unable to participate.

Girls’ Team: Captain Louise S (Year 11), Catrin B (Year 12), Claudia E (Year 12), Ziraili U (Year 9)
Boys’ Team: Harry H (Y13)

Our next competition will be in the Summer Term in Cardiff and we will be hoping to recruit additional skiers!
