Bravely taking on the 6.00am meeting time at Cardiff Central Station, Year 9 students Dani K, Izzy H, Ayesha A, Anoushka S, Siani K and Angona S, joined by Himani K of Year 7, travelled to Solihull School to take part in the regional round of the International Competition for Young Debaters, a British Parliamentary style competition open to students up to and including Year 10. Nia M-R and Udita D of Year 13 accompanied the girls, coaching them on debating strategies before the competition started and ably filling in as Swing speakers during the debates.
The four Howell's teams secured five 1st places during the three preliminary rounds, and two teams (Dani and Izzy; Siani and Angona) broke to the final. We were delighted to hear that Dani and Izzy were selected for the Finals Day at the Cambridge Union in April. Many congratulations to all the Howell's team who did so well.
