HOCKEY AND NETBALL
The hockey and netball teams have had a busy start to 2017 with both matches and practices. We have had a mixture of results against a range of schools but the Year 9 team remain victorious with wins in both hockey and netball. The players of the matches have been Jess J (Netball A) and Georgia M-P (Netball B).
This week, Year 7 teams have played netball against Radyr where both teams were unable to break through and eventually we lost both games. The players of the match were Bella M (A team) and Niamh (B team).
The Year 7 hockey team had a real tussle against Glantaf with the A team finally losing 2-4 with Becky L scoring both goals. The B team drew 5-5.
The Year 8 girls played Llanishen, and after a strong fight both teams eventually lost. The players of the match were Amelia P (A team) and Sophie V (B team)

BADMINTON
We have also taken part in the Cardiff Games Badminton competition with combined teams from Year 7 and 8 as well as a group from Years 9 and 10. Howell’s played magnificently and won and were runners up in both age groups. We have now been invited to the South Wales Badminton tournament. We wish the teams every success.

INDOOR ATHLETICS
It is the Sports Hall Indoor Athletic season, and the Year 7 and 8 team competed at Whitchurch Lower School last week. Events include 2 laps, 6 laps, standing long jump, vertical jump, shot put, triple jump and speed bounce. All the girls performed at their best, with the top three results coming from Jennifer E (Year 7) who won the shot put, and Fiona B (Year 8), who came 3rd in the 6 lap run.

BASKETBALL
We have been very lucky this term as players from Archers Basketball Club have come into school to introduce Basketball to Year 7 during their games afternoon. The girls enjoyed two brilliant sessions, and it looks like we have some promising basketball players in the year.

CROSS COUNTRY
On 22nd January, the Bostock sisters (Year 7 and 9), together with Lowri E (Year 10) and Amy T (Year 12) took part in the Cardiff Cross Country Challenge. We are still waiting the final results of this but we have high hopes for the girls' results!
