On Friday 6th June , Years 7 -10 in the Senior School took part in a First World War day, which was organised as a cross-curricular event to commemorate the war, which began one hundred years ago. Staff and students dressed up in First World War clothing and took part in a variety of activities. They had war-themed lessons, including making a periscope in Science, weighting rations in Maths and analysing war poetry in English. The students enjoyed a drama production by the theatre group Say Two, who also led workshops. At lunchtime we had a First World War picnic and it was lovely to see the girls playing with the skipping ropes and hoola hoops, as they would have done in 1914. To finish the day we had a music hall themed sing- a-long before finishing with the Last Post, as we remembered the effects of the war.
