On Wednesday 22nd January, we hosted the GDST Public Speaking Competition designed to commemorate the life of Chrystall Carter. Speakers from five GDST schools entertained the audience of Year 10 students, staff and guests. Topics included freedom of speech, the butterfly effect, fashion and the merits of being childish. Tabi H, Year 11, did a fabulous job representing Howell’s this year. A distinguished panel of judges listened carefully to the arguments presented and decided that the best speaker on the day was Eleanor V from Oxford High School who spoke on the topic of ‘There is no planet B... veganism is our only option to save the planet.’ She will now go on to the final to be held at the end of the month. Good luck to our regional finalist.
