GDST Rally at Bromley High School

Students from Howell’s made the annual journey to Bromley High School last week for the GDST Sports Rally, taking part in gymnastics and cross country against girls from all the other Trust schools. We are always faced with fierce competition at any GDST event and it was no different on Thursday 7th March

The cross country was a tough course, very wet and muddy and with lots of strong competitors aiming for the top spot. Olivia C went out hard and strong and held her 2nd place position for the whole race. Tallulla made it into the tunnel at 5th but then got pushed down to 15th in a heated finish. These are the highest place finishes we have had a GDST cross country event. Girls from Years 6 to 8 all ran, showing that Howell’s is a school that develops strong athletes. Well done to all the girls that raced.

The gymnastics event was as strong as ever, and with GB level gymnasts from some of the London schools the standards were set very high. The Howell’s team performed beautifully on floor, with some outstanding scores from Aleighka, Georgie, and Daisy Mo. Izzy and Sophia dominated the vault, both scoring over 15.00 out of a possible 16.00  which was excellent. Last year the U11 team finished 13th. We were aiming for a top 10 finish and Howell’s finished in 9th.
