Maths Week 23rd to 27th November  

On Wednesday, Mrs King led an assembly to launch Maths Week, which starts on Monday. We heard about famous mathematicians including Alan Turing, Mary Jackson and Srinivassa Ramanujan and the contributions they have made to mathematics, science, history and engineering. Mrs King also introduced our Maths Prefects, College students Lucy and Will, to the students. 

 

Next week, the maths department have lots of fun competitions, puzzles and games for everyone to take part in. 

  • Year 7 will be unscrambling Maths anagrams in a homework competition and then in their Friday lesson they will trying their hand at making a Stellated Octahedron Origami model 
  • There’s an Origami Dodecahedron Challenge for all year groups to try 
  • Year 8 will be doing a Maths Relay in their lessons 
  • A Yohaku Puzzle competition 
  • Year 10 will be trying their hand at a mathematical Escape Room in one of their lessons.
