Rotary Interact October 2019

Rotary Interact October 2019

Last week, out College Rotary Interact Club worked very hard on a number of fundraising initiatives. These were ably led by our Year 13 committee, with Akanksha S and Megan V at the helm. Our Year 12 students also played a big role in planning, organising and supporting these events – it was a genuine team effort and it has been a delight to see the two year groups working so well together on a common goal.

On Monday, we held our annual MacMillan coffee morning to tie in with MacMillan’s national campaign. Delicious cupcakes and tray bakes were sold across all sections of the school, including the staffroom, raising £152.55.

On Wednesday, as part of the Year 7 induction programme, a film night was held in the pavilion. Our Year 7 students were treated to The Secret Life of Pets, whilst indulging in popcorn. They raised £120.80 in aid of a Fossil Free UK.

On Friday, as a culmination of Languages Week, students from across the Senior School came to watch our Year 12 and Year 13 mixed netball teams battle it out for the College shield. This year, Year 12 team 1 broke Year 13’s two-year winning streak (Cameron H as GK, Robyn D as GD, Georgia M as WD, Kyle A as WD, Lucy C as C, Rhys W as C, Alicia L as WA, Jake W as WA, Annabelle W as GA and Maisey R as GS). In the Year 12 play off, team 1 was defeated by team 2 (David H as GK, Tom J as GK, Elen T as GD, Lucy N as GD, Esther P as WD, Georgia K as WD, Lily R as C, Asa C as C, Olivia G as WA, Harri H as WA, Ava F as GA, Anita F as GS and Ginan C as GS). The final event was a shoot- out between staff and College students. The staff played enthusiastically, but sadly were well and truly beaten by the College. A very big thank you for everyone who took part and to Mrs Pritchard for keeping order with the whistle! We raised £116.20 for Alalay, a charity that we have supported for a number of years and which works tirelessly to support children living on the streets of Santa Cruz in Bolivia.
