On Thursday 4th July, over 120 skiers from Cardiff and South East Wales competed at the Schools’ Regional Championships at Fairwater, Cardiff. Our two Prep School teams acquitted themselves extremely well, with the A team (Jess M, Lottie M and Charlotte H) coming third overall. They also had a number of individual successes: Amalie C, making her debut for Howell’s, gained Silver in the U14 unregistered category; Jess M gained Silver in the U12 registered category and our U10s triumphed with Zuriel U winning Silver and Charlotte H winning Gold in the unregistered category and Lottie M winning Gold as a registered skier. Our seniors faired just as well, with the A team (Louise S, Ziraili U, Lucy M and Laura H) winning Bronze. Individual successes included: Laura H winning Gold and Emma B winning Bronze in the U16 unregistered category; Ziraili U winning Gold in the U18 unregistered category; Louise S winning Gold in the U21 unregistered category and Gethin J winning Gold in the U21 registered category. In addition, Eva G from our Prep School and Sofia G from our Senior School represented Howell’s for the first time and will be ones to watch in the future! This was also the last opportunity for Ski Team Captain Louise S (Y13) to compete for Howell’s and we would like to thank her for her commitment to the ski team over the last 8 years, during which time she has competed successfully at regional and national level, making it to the British Schools’ Championships five times. Our skiers are now looking forward to the Welsh Schools National Championships in Llangrannog in September.
