An audience of parents, students, staff, governors, alumni and friends enjoyed a mixed programme of musical items at this year’s Spring Concert which took place in the Great Hall. There were musical treats from Senior Jazz, Senior Choir, College Choir, Senior Orchestra, GCSE Ensemble, Performing Arts Group, Year 13 Jazz and the Flute Group. Pianist Olivia G , Year 13, performed Kapustin’s Jazz Prelude beautifully. The evening culminated in rousing renditions of Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter featuring Mr Beckett expertly playing the title instrument, Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance and the jazz classic, Chatanooga Choo Choo.
The Spring Concert is also tinged with sadness as it Year 13’s final concert at Howell’s before they embark on their A-level examinations. We wish them every success for the future and thank them warmly for their unstinting support and for sharing their musical talents with us.
Many thanks to Mrs Clouter, Mrs Thomas, Mr Beckett, Mr Cheeke, Mrs Bowden and all the students and staff who made the evening so special.
