Splendid Results in Cambridge Debating

Howell's hosted the regional round of the Cambridge Schools' Debating Competition on Saturday, January 23rd. Thirty-two teams from twelve schools in South Wales and the South West of England took part in three debates, with only fifteen minutes to prepare for each motion. The topics included electing judges, graduates being required to remain in developing countries, and legally requiring bystanders to intervene to protect crime victims. Eight students represented Howell's:  Nia M-R, Udita D, John C and James W (Year 12) and Isobel O, Hema N, Mansi V and Ishrat C (Year 11). All the teams achieved at least one second placing, a particularly pleasing result for new debaters John and James, and Nia and Udita performed amazingly, winning all three of their debates! Congratulations to them, and to all the debaters.
