Digital Leaders attend Trust Conference

On Tuesday 26th January, very early in the morning, our Digital Leaders (from both Junior and Senior School) left Howell's en route to the GDST Digital Leaders' Annual Conference at South Hampstead High School. On arrival they were given their name badges and GDST goody bags; their team table awaited. The brief was to design a concept that would promote digital learning and employability to girls - their team research was going to come in handy! After noting their ideas on the "writable" table cloth it was agreed that a Digital Diploma (along the lines of D. of E.) would be a great concept for schools. The stepped diploma would encourage girls to code, develop digital skills and spend time in industries which rely on computing. The team co-operated to create a video, website, poster, social media concept and business plan in order to present their idea. As the judges visited each team the girls pitched in true 'Dragons Den' style. The GDST congratulated the girls on their idea and would like to investigate the diploma further. During the long journey back the girls were able to reflect on the pace of the day and all they had learnt - this included coding the new BBC Microbit that will be given to all Year 7 students later this term. More information about their idea can be found on Firefly #digitalGDST
