Students qualify for British Swimming Summer Championships

Marnie B., India B. and Claudia M. (Year 10) have all qualified for and been invited by British Swimming to compete at the British Swimming Summer Championships, which will take place in Sheffield during the last week in July. This is an extremely prestigious competition, to which only swimmers ranked in the top 24 in Britain in their respective age groups and best events are invited. The purpose of the Championships is to identify junior talent across the UK and to support top-ranking swimmers on their journey towards senior medal-winning performance, as well as providing an opportunity for these swimmers to compete against the very best in the UK.
Marnie will be competing in the 200m breaststroke, India in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, and Claudia in the 50m and 100m freestyle.
The girls also form three-quarters of the successful City of Cardiff Swimming Club 4x100m girls aged 14-16 medley relay team, which has qualified in the top ten in Britain to compete at the Championships. In addition, India and Claudia both competed as part of the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays, both of which are also through to the British Championships.

These girls have worked and trained very hard for many years to reach this level of competition, and we wish them all the very best!
