Congratulations to Larissa B in Year 8 for achieving her Gold Award in ice-skating this month!
Well done to the Year 7 Athletics Team who attended the Cardiff & Vale Schools' Championships on Tuesday 21st June. Year 7 800m champion Fiona B has set a new county record with a time of 2:34.00 mins!
There was superb running by Jennifer E, who is the Year 7 Cardiff & Vale Schools' 200m champion. Jennifer successfully jumped 1.3m, coming 3rd in the High Jump competition. Jennifer came 4th in Shot with a distance of 7.52m.
Well done to Katie G for a great performance in Long Jump (3.1) and Shot Put (5.7). Fiona W performed well in the 200m (35.6) and the 1000m walk (18th). Freya M had a great performance in the Shot Put (4.1) and the 100m (15.7 secs). Emma S scored 2.09 in Long Jump and 800m (3.37). Eleanor J performed in the 100m (15.4 secs) and Zoe H in the Long Jump (3.21) and was 7th in the 1000m walk. Well done to the relay team who also qualified for the A final, finishing 6th. A great day of results!
Last week, Year 8 watched the very important Wales v England Football Match in the Octagon! It was a loud afternoon, with cheers and sighs throughout!
On Wednesday 22nd June our Sport Scholars students attended UWIC, Cyncoed to undergo a lab-based fitness assessment. This activity and live experience within a sports laboratory was a great insight to the professional world of sport science for our scholars. Some of UWIC's top MSc students led the session with the support of UWIC Lab Technicians and Dr Andrew Miles, Principal Lecturer. Well done to Jack B who took part in the tests. The students were impressed by the laboratory equipment, administration of the tests and facilities available. We look forward to analysing the results in the near future.
