GDST Awards Success

We were delighted this week to hear that Nia M-R (Yr 13) has come second in the GDST Somerville and Gurney Awards, which are awarded for exceptional essay writing ability on a range of subjects.
Along with students from 22 other GDST schools, Nia sat a two-and-a-quarter hour general essay exam paper in June, and the papers were marked by Marianne Talbot, the Director of Studies in Philosophy at The Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford.
As well the honour of doing so well in such a prestigious and respected competition, Nia will also receive £300 in prize money.
Application details for the Somerville and Gurney Awards 2017 will be sent to school in March next year, and the exam paper will be sat at school in June.
