On Thursday 29th September, Howell’s College hosted the first Honours lecture for this academic year. We were joined by a Researcher and PhD student from Cardiff University’s School of Physics and Astronomy. Olivia Keenan shared with us the secret of ‘How to build a particle collider’. Her talk was both very informative and very practical and included a giant bubble make, a Van der Graf generator, liquid nitrogen, beach balls and a bunch of flowers! This was definitely a case of ‘please don’t try this at home!’ We are now looking forward to welcoming professor Patrick Minford, Professor of Applied economics at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University on the 18th October for our next Honours lecture.
