‘I want to find out about how caterpillars turn into butterflies’. That was a request from one of the girls during the Nursery's pupil voice session. So, the Nursery girls investigated and talked about the life cycle of a butterfly, and had lots of fun re-enacting the famous Eric Carle story ‘The Very Hungry caterpillar’. The girls created lifecycle wheels and used their labelling skills to write about the different stages. They also about what they do during the week and used the story to help them sequence the days of the week. Using play dough we made their own long and short caterpillars too.
