Howell's skiers had phenomenal success in the 2015 regional ski slalom competition on 1st July, winning an amazing 16 medals as individuals, as well as placing in the team competitions.
Our junior team (all unregistered skiers), Jess M. (Year 2), Lucy M. (Year 4), Tirion J. (Year 5) and Laura H. (Year 4) came fourth overall in the primary competition, less than one second behind the next team. They also had a number of individual successes. Jess, our youngest racer, came first in the U8 category and Lucy won a silver medal in the U10 age group.
Our senior girls’ A team, Holly C. (Year 13; Captain), Caitlin J. (Year 13), Louise S. (Year 9) and Lilli J. (Year 7) skied exceptionally well, securing a team gold, and our senior girls B team, Bronwen E. (Year 9), Holly B. (Year 8), Ella K., and Sacha M. (Year 7) were placed fourth overall in the secondary school competition. They were also joined by Ziraili U. (Year 7) who competed as an individual. The girls achieved excellent results: Lilli (1st U14 registered), Ella (2nd U14 unregistered), Louise (1st U16 unregistered; 3rd overall unregistered), Holly B. (2nd U16 unregistered), Holly C. (1st U18 unregistered; 1st overall unregistered; 2nd overall registered and unregistered combined); and Caitlin (2nd U18 unregistered).
Ben J., Alex G. and Jonny H. (Year 13) competed in the secondary boys’ competition and secured a bronze overall and a 1st (Ben) and 3rd (Jonny) in the U18 unregistered category. Ben, as the fastest unregistered boy, was the overall winner across all age categories.
The teams are now looking forward to the Welsh National Championships in Llangrannog in October 2015.
