Sports News since 24th June

On 24th June, Years 7, 8 and 10 rounders teams travelled to Christ College Brecon for an afternoon’s match. The performance from all girls was tremendous and the Year 7 and 8s won their games very comfortably. The Year 10s narrowly missed out on the win but put up a great fight.

Congratulations to the Year 7 Athletics team including Jessica J., Annabelle W., Georgia M.P., Charlotte H., Olivia D., Eadie D., Katie G., Lily R., Grace W. and Ava F. These girls took part in the District Athletics competition on the 23rd June and they were all a credit to the school. Highlights came from the field events where each of the girls placed in the top five out of approximately 26 competitors, well done!

Congratulations to Renee M. (Year 9) who has been selected to represent the Welsh Schools' team at the National Track & Field Championships on the 4th July.

Sports Day 2015 (1st July) promised to be the hottest day of the year so far. The heat was certainly felt in both the morning inter-form multi-activity session and the afternoon inter-house athletic competition between Trotter, Lewis, Baldwin and Kendall. This year we were delighted that the college students were also able to take part for the whole day.  Form tutors (in the morning) and House Captains (in the afternoon), did a valiant job of organising their troops and making sure that the students arrived at each event at the allotted time, although we were a little concerned that the college boys might run into the trophy table at the end of their 100m race; they were going so fast! Apart from some outstanding athletics results, we had the added bonus of a surprise appearance of the Football European Champion League Cup and The Women’s Football European Champions League Cup.
