Howell’s College students achieve a superb set of A-Level results for 2015

Howell’s opened its doors to boys in the Co-Ed 6th Form College some 10 years ago and yet again the boys in Howell’s College have demonstrated that they too thrive in a predominantly female environment. An impressive 110 students, the largest cohort of an independent school in Wales, took their A Levels which meant 336 actual A Level entries. This year 23% of all results were at the highest A* grade, with 52% receiving A*- A grades.  In total 79% of all results were A*- B grades and there was a 100% pass rate. 86% of students who studied for an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) gained A*- B grades.

Tom O. gained four A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. Tom is one of five students who will be going on to Oxbridge where he will go on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge. Joining him in Oxbridge is Shadab A., Josh F.(Head Boy), Flora L. J. and Kristy-Ann W. who have all received exceptional results.

Success runs in the family for twins Ella and Luke M. from Cyncoed who are celebrating receiving exactly the same superb results: two A*s and an A.  Ella studied Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology and will go on to Bristol to read Neuroscience. Luke, like his sister studied Mathematics along with Further Mathematics and Economics and will go on to read Economics at Bath.

Head Girl, Annabel C. and Head Boy, Josh F. also received exactly the same grades: two A*s and an A. Annabel studied Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology and will be heading to Manchester to read Biomedical Science with Industrial Professional Experience.  Josh studied Chemistry, Physics and Biology and will go on to read Medicine at Oxford.

“This year group has been a joy to get to know in Howell’s College over the last two years and I know they have worked incredibly hard to achieve such wonderful results. I wish them well in whatever they go on to do and know they will be hugely successful in the future. Just as importantly I feel these students have experienced an innovative and exciting enrichment offer alongside their academic subjects. This has helped them to develop life skills to ensure their success in the 21st century workplace. My thanks to our excellent staff for the support and guidance they have given to the students to help them achieve such great results.”
