First day in College for Year 12

On the first day at Howell's College, all of Year 12 assembled in the Great Hall and were introduced to Mrs Smith, Head of Year. The young leaders from Year 13 each gave the new Year 12 students one piece of advice. Then Year 12 met their personal tutors; this was followed by a whole school assembly in the Sports Hall. Later they all took part in the Location Challenge, a fun way to work with new people and develop their social skills, which was based upon finding hidden gnomes, recording the letters on them and eventually figuring out the anagram.

After a hot picnic and ice-cream lunch the students went to the Freshers’ Fair and were given the opportunity to sign up for various clubs and out of school activities.  The new students enjoyed their first day at Howell’s College and said that felt very welcome.  One commented: "All the teachers, staff and previous Howell’s pupils made a big effort to give us lots of tips to ensure we get the most out of attending Howells’ College and to make the first day as un-awkward and stress-free as possible!"
