Sam Angus Visits Howell’s School Library

We were delighted to welcome author Sam Angus to Howell’s Library on Tuesday 8th November to speak to Year 7 about her new novel, The House on Hummingbird Island. The girls were enraptured to hear about Sam’s writing process, especially as she revealed that she touch-types her first drafts with her eyes closed in complete silence to allow the book to come alive in her mind as she crafts it! Sam also touched upon the historical research she conducted for her previous books, Soldier Dog, A Horse Called Hero and Captain, which explored the roles of working animals on the Western and Eastern Fronts during the Wars. You can find out more about Sam and her books here: http://samangus.com/

Our special thanks to Mrs Mel Griffin for bringing this event to Howell’s School in partnership with Griffin Books. Griffin Books are delighted to be able to offer students a discount on each of Sam’s novels at a special price of £6 each or £20 for all four – if students would like to take advantage of this offer, which expires on 30th November, they can collect a voucher from the Library.
