It was a busy few days for the Year 9 Hockey team, who took part in the inaugural GDST Hockey Tour at Royal High School in Bath last weekend. The girls played their opening round matches on Friday and Saturday and defeated Royal High School 7-0, Streatham & Clapham High School 4-0 and Newcastle High School 5-0, before drawing 2-2 with Norwich High School. These two teams then qualified for the final round on a very chilly Sunday and squared off again in the first game of the day. Despite being in control, Howell's couldn't get the ball in the goal and lost for the first time all weekend, 1-0. The girls then proceeded to defeat Ipswich High School 4-0 and Nottingham High School 4-1 before managing a 0-0 draw against Oxford High School. In their final match of the competition, the girls battled well to win 2-1 against Shrewsbury High School, finishing 2nd in the competition behind champions Norwich. It was a hugely successful weekend for Howell's, who enjoyed staying at the boarding house in Bath, shopping at the Christmas markets and meeting Rio 2016 gold medal winning hockey player Alex Danson!
