Always looking for a way to combine a love of language learning with the ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ culture of Germany and Austria, the College German students visited Coffee1 in Pontcanna on Wednesday to say ‘Aufwiedersehen’ and ‘Danke Schön’ to Fräulein Martin, who has been working at Howell’s during the Autumn Term. We have been very fortunate to have been joined by Fräulein Martin as she is bilingual - German and Spanish – and, alongside German, she has also been sharing her knowledge of the Spanish language and Peruvian culture with classes in Key Stage 3. Fräulein Martin will be returning to Germany to complete her teacher training course at the Pädagogische Hochschule Schwäbisch Gmund and will be missed by students and staff in both the Junior and Senior Schools.
