An Afternoon Tea in Aid of Marie Curie raises over £7,000

An Afternoon Tea in Aid of Marie Curie raises over £6,000

On Saturday 11th September, it was a pleasure to host An Afternoon Tea in Aid of Marie Curie at Howell’s. The event was instigated by Hywelian Sarah McJennett and was in memory of her friend and fellow Howell’s alumna Liz McGahey and members of the Howell’s community who have been supported by Marie Curie. When guests arrived, they had the opportunity to look around the buildings and grounds before making their way to the Sports Hall where a delicious afternoon tea was served.  During the afternoon Sarah spoke with great fondness about her friend, and Liz’s daughters Millie (Howell’s Class of 2020) and Tabi (current Head Girl) talked about how Marie Curie supported them. Guests were also treated to marvellous musical performances from Xinrong Z (cello) and Emily Z (piano), both in Year 7.  Many thanks to everyone who supported the event which has raised over £7000 for this vital charity. Thank you also to the catering team, caretaking team and everyone who worked so hard to make the occasion so special.
