This week has been Book Week and the theme this year was Lost in Music. The Senior School have celebrated all things musical, from Harry Styles to Hamilton, with a host of events, activities and creative competitions in the Library. A huge thank you to Mrs Norman for hosting such a fun range of 'Lost in Music' Book Week events.
Book Week House Spelling Bee
On Monday, over 45 students, from Year 7 to College, competed to be the Book Week Spelling Champion in an especially popular Book Week Spelling Bee competition. From Amadeus to Beabadoobee, the music related spellings were extra tricky this year.
Year 7 Pop Up Bookshop
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Mel Griffin, owner of Griffin Books in Penarth, to Howell’s for a Year 7 Pop Up Bookshop. Mrs Griffin spoke to Year 7 about fulfilling her lifelong dream of running a bookshop and brought an amazing selection of books for the students to choose from. Year 7 will be given the book they chose to take home and enjoy; then the books will be added to the Library shelves for another reader to discover.
Lost In Music Treasure Hunt
On Wednesday, we hid the popstars Harry Styles and Lizzo in the Library! Well, not the actual Harry and Lizzo – just pictures of them for Year 7 to find in our Book Week Treasure Hunt. Every picture found won a prize. Although we thought we had been pretty sneaky at hiding them, all but 3 pictures were found.
