On Saturday 13th January, the Howell's Senior team—Susanna F (Year 8), Neya G (Year 10), Nayana K (Year 7)— made light of the unavailability of several older girls from our previous victorious sides to qualify once again for the British Girls U19 Finals. They finished 5th out of 26 schools in the tougher Southern Qualifying section. Susanna in particular excelled with 3.5/5 on top board while Neya and Nayana both more than held their own.
Next weekend sees the Welsh Girls' Championships (all ages U8 to U18) and we are encouraging a large contingent from Howell's to turn out and represent the school. Even though not everyone can win medals, anyone who plays will gain invaluable experience and enjoy a great day of chess.
