On Wednesday 18th October, Year 7 enjoyed a busy day visiting both Cosmeston Medieval Village and Caerphilly Castle, learning about life during the Middle Ages. A highlight of the morning was getting the girls into the stocks and pillory, where petty criminals would have been punished mercilessly by other villagers! We learned more about medieval warfare from the guides and saw how bread was made. At Caerphilly, we nosed around the medieval inhabitants’ living quarters and imagined ingenious ways of attacking the castle such as climbing up the latrine shaft. There was even a dragon there to greet us! The teachers had a fantastic day with the girls and we would like to congratulate them on their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour on the trip.
